Are you trying to recover some important files but just can’t seem to find them? Well, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. In this article, we’ll be discussing four best practices for recovering lost photos, documents, and files on a Mac. By following these tips, you’ll be able to get your files back in no time at all.

Back up your Mac

The first step in recovering any important files that you might have lost is to back them up. Doing this will ensure that you never lose any work of your own or anyone else’s, and it’ll also help ensure that all of your backed-up files are available to use if you need them.

To back up your Mac, just follow these simple steps:

1) Connect your hard drive to a USB port on the computer

2) When asked, choose the option for backing up to an external disk or other storage devices

3) Your backup disk will then be created, and all of your data on the Mac will be stored there

To make sure that you don’t forget about this vital step, consider putting it on a calendar reminder.

Use differential backup

Differential backup is a type of backup that saves a copy of your files, but only the differences between them and the one on your computer.

This will allow you to recover your files with less hassle.  If you want to use differential backup, you’ll need to either use Time Machine or an external hard drive.

Differential backups are easy to find in Finder as they have an icon with two arrows pointing in opposite directions. You should be able to find it by navigating through your folders until you reach one labeled Differential Backup.

Erase the drive

First, you should realize that your data on a Mac is stored in two places:  Macintosh HD (the hard drive) and The Trash (the temporary file folder) If you want to ensure that you’re able to find all of your files, then the first thing you should do is clear the trash.

You can clear the Trash in a few different ways. If you have Finder open and click on the Trash icon in the upper-right corner, then right-click on it and select “Empty Trash.” Another way is to hold down SHIFT+Control+Delete at the same time while clicking on the Trash icon.

This will empty every single folder within the trash and automatically empty it as well. Next, if you have a recent backup of your Mac or files on an external drive, then try restoring them from there. This will make things much easier for you.

Reformat and reinstall the drive

If you’ve lost data due to a hard drive failure, reformatting and reinstalling the drive will be your best bet for recovering lost files. This is because OS X will create a new file system and discard your old one, which will make sure that there are no remnants of data on the drive.

To reformat the drive, follow these steps:

1) Shut down your Mac.

2) Disconnect all cables from the Mac – if you have multiple drives connected to your computer (e.g., Optical Drive, USB), disconnect all of them except for USB-C.

3) Power on the Mac and wait for it to start up completely before continuing with step 4.

4) Quit any open programs by holding down Command+Option+Esc at startup; this will bring up a white screen with black text asking if you want to shut down or reformat the disk.

5) Choose “Reformat disk.”

6) Remove all media from your Mac and then remove the back panel of your Mac to expose the hard drive.

Make sure not to touch any parts of the hard drive during this process.

Recover Files After Erasing the Drive

If you’ve accidentally deleted a file from your Mac, then don’t worry. There is still hope for recovering the lost file. You will need to use data recovery Mac software, like Mac Data Recovery.

The software is designed to recover files after data has been erased or overwritten by other files. It can even find very small files that are typically difficult to find. The best part about using this type of software is that it doesn’t require any special knowledge or technical skills.

It’s really simple just to run the software and let it do its thing. The process should take less than a few minutes, so if you’re anxious to try this out, click here now and get started.
